Book: The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice by Deborah Adele
Book Description:
This guide explores the first two limbs of the eight-fold path of yoga—the yamas and niyamas—which serve as foundational principles for a yogic lifestyle. These ethical guidelines help individuals live with intention, take ownership of their lives, and cultivate awareness in thought, attitude, and action. The yamas (restraints) include nonviolence, truthfulness, nonstealing, nonexcess, and nonpossessiveness. The niyamas (observances) include purity, contentment, self-discipline, self-study, and surrender. Each chapter ends with a self-study section, ideal for personal reflection or group discussion.
July 12th | 11 AM
Join us for a unique yoga class led by Dr. Tarah Joseph, a specialist in orthopedic physical therapy and women’s health. This session focuses on incorporating pelvic floor principles into traditional yoga practice. You’ll learn what the pelvic floor is, how it's engaged during common yoga poses, and techniques to both strengthen a weak pelvic floor and relax a tight one. Discover how to feel more comfortable and empowered in your body. All participants will receive a helpful handout.
